These services are designed to help you if you need to improve your job prospects or skills, get a qualification or just make the most of your job. nextstep services are available across England.

We will give you access to information and advice on learning and work. Wherever you are in England, the service you receive will be of the same high quality.
We aim to:
- be accessible and visible;
- be professional and knowledgeable;
- have effective connections between all our services;
- target our services to your needs;
- target all your needs by offering a range of services;
- offer information and advice that is unbiased to help you make informed decisions;
- reflect your present and future needs in the services we offer;
- be friendly and welcoming;
- encourage and support you into learning; and
- make you aware of all the available services that are useful to you.

What information is available?
We can give you:
- verbal information through face-to-face meetings or telephone helplines;
- printed information, such as leaflets;
- access to the internet; and
- access to our information zone.
We can give you information about:
- learning and work opportunities available locally;
- practical ways to get ahead, such as how to apply for jobs and how to plan a career; and
- where to go next for information about benefits, transport and free services for learning and work; and
- how and where to access further information.
What advice is available?
Our advice services will be tailored to your particular needs.
We will (subject to eligibility):
- give you personalised information, which may mean referring you to other services;
- help you use decision-making tools;
- help you link your personal interests and skills to your own job or career needs;
identify the basic skills you may need and refer you to other sources of help to gain skills in literacy, language and numeracy; - help you understand information about the job market;
- give you advice about financial support available, such as the Adult Learning Grant;
- give you basic advice about the services available to you during redundancy, including how to access them and where to go;
- give you advice on ways to search and apply for jobs, such as writing a CV and interview skills;
- give you advice on ways to progress in a career; and
- advise you on what is and is not available, and discuss alternatives.

We promise:
- to contact you within one working day of your request for information; and
- that if we need to find out information from somewhere else in order to help you, we will aim to supply this within three working days.
